TodogrowLED
Todogrowled TGL full spectrum guide

In order to understand the differences and the uses of the spectra available in the Todogrowled catalog, we bring you this short guide that will guide you when choosing the color temperature that best suits the needs of your crop.

Before presenting the guide, we will clarify two fundamental concepts to understand this topic:

When we talk about 3000k, 3500k or 4000k, we are talking about color temperature, which is nothing more than the predominance of one color or another in white light. It is measured in degrees Kelvin (k) and the lower the number, the warmer light (more similar to, for example, sunset light) and the higher that number is. a cooler light (more like, for example, the light of noon on a clear day). From 5000 K they are said to be cold colors, while at lower temperatures (2700-3000 K) they are considered warm colors. To speak of cold or warm light is to speak of tonality. The color temperature has nothing to do with the heat emitted by the light source, in this case the LED.

Not only do you have to look at the power or color temperature that the lamp gives, but also its color index (CRI):

The CRI is an independent value of the color temperature, that is, of the color of the light emitted by the source. The range in the color rendering index is from 0 to 100, with 100 being the “perfect” value. The higher the CRI, the more similar to sunlight the light emitted by that source will be and it will have a spectrum very similar to the light absorption graph of plants.

Once we are clear about these two concepts, we can apply them to our cultivation:

Except for TGL STAR 60 6500 White, all TGLs are full spectrum, that is, all lamps will serve you for the complete growing cycle, but some are more suitable than others if we only want to use them in growth or flowering. We will see the more specific characteristics of each option below:

  • 3000K - For full cycle with enhanced flowering:

Indicated to enhance flowering and achieve better results in the final phase. It is the most orange light. The chip used is the Citizen CLU48 CRI 97.

  • 3500K - If you are looking for a complete spectrum that enhances the crop from start to finish:

Intermediate full spectrum of the 3, for the entire cycle. The chip used in these models is the Cree CXB 3070 in the case of the TGL STAR 60 or TGL 220 Classic and the Cree CXB 3590 (more efficient than the 3070: it consumes a little less and produces a little more) if we talk about the TGL STAR 100 or TGL 220 Plus. You ensure a crop with optimal growth and surprising flowering with the same LED from start to finish.
  • 4000K - If you are looking for fast growth and enhanced flowering with reds:

Normally this full spectrum is recommended for the vegetative phase (as is the case with this variant on Quantum Board boards), but in the case of the chip that the new STAR models have, the aforementioned Citizen CLU48 CRI 97, having a large quantity of reds makes them valid to achieve impressive results in all phases of the crop, in addition to improving the growth phase compared to the other options. Its highest red peak is what makes it stand out in other models with the same spectrum.

  • 6500K - For growth only:

This spectrum is the whitest of all those in our catalog and, due to the large amount of blues it has, makes it ideal for growth, quickly achieving compact, strong and robust plants.

ANNEXED

  • Deep Red

Quantum Board panels for full cycle have, apart from the Samsung SMD LM301B or LM301H chips with a 3500ºK spectrum, a series of red chips, whose spectrum adds a red peak at 660nm. This makes the flowering look improved, since it stimulates the final phase of the plant, improving the size and density of the flowers.
  • R-Spec

Acronym for Red Spec. Specific spectrum of HLG luminaires. It has blues and reds that make it suitable for full cycle and a peak of reds to improve flowering.
  • B-Spec

Acronym for Blue Spec. Specific spectrum of HLG luminaires. It has a great saturation of blue at 440 nm to provide a fast and strong growth offers a saturation of blue that stimulates the growth of your plants and guarantees an optimal, fast and compact vegetative of your mothers, cuttings and clones in large spaces.
